Buckle fracture
Buckle fracture. The other name for this injury is a ‘torus’ fracture, but ‘buckle’ is easier to remember because that’s exactly what they look like – rather than there being a visible fracture line or displacement of bone fragments, in this injury (which occurs in children, most commonly in the distal radius as in this case) we merely see a slight buckling of one of the cortices which is caused by an incomplete fracture. Another form of incomplete fracture is the ‘greenstick’, however these look very different as a discrete fracture line is visible.
