Chronic tophaceous gout – elbow

Chronic tophaceous gout. This 71 year old man had a long history of gout and presented with a hard lump behind his elbow. The lateral radiograph shows calcified tophi (arrows). These typically occur at the extensor aspects of joints; behind the olecranon is a particularly common location.
