Embolic infarcts
Embolic infarcts. This patient developed sudden dysarthria and was referred for MRI. These diffusion-weighted images show multiple tiny foci of restricted diffusion in the cerebellum and both cerebral hemispheres. These are small infarcts. As they are involving both the anterior and posterior circulations, this points to a central source for emboli; in this case, the patient had atrial fibrillation.
