Normal pressure hydrocephalus
Normal pressure hydrocephalus. This 82 year old woman presented with progressively deteriorating gait. CT shows dilatation of the lateral and third (arrow) ventricles, which you might expect to see in someone of this age however this would normally be accompanied by a similar degree of widening of the sulci if it were simply due to atrophy. Many of these patients will benefit from insertion of a ventriculoperitoneal shunt.
