Paget’s disease – skull
Paget’s disease. This CT, on bone windows, shows thickening and sclerosis of the entire skull, typical of Paget’s disease. As you know, involvement of the skull base in these patients can result in compression of exiting cranial nerves. In times gone by, patients would sometimes complain of having to move up a hat size – even in Dublin 4, this is now a rare event. You would expect the skull to show diffusely increased tracer uptake if the patient had a bone scan (Paget’s disease is often picked up as an incidental finding on bone scans performed for other reasons).
