Vasculitis – PET
Vasculitis. PET is an excellent imaging technique for imaging arteritis. Although most commonly performed when assessing malignancy, a PET study will identify any process that is associated with increased glucose metabolism, including inflammatory disorders such as vasculitis. In this example, there is abnormal FDG (fluoro-deoxyglucose) uptake along the subclavian and axillary arteries (black arrows), as well as in the wall of the aorta (red arrows). Note the normal FDG excretion in the kidneys, ureters and bladder.
